Booking choice: The La Pedrera ticket, from $33 per person. Check dates Tour details
Casa Batlló (Passeig de Gràcia 43) and Casa Milà (Passeig de Gràcia 92) are Gaudí's two famous city houses, built one after the other in the same decade. People often have time for one, and the choice comes down to what you want to look at: a rooftop and the story of the building, or rooms that feel like the inside of a shell.
This guide sets them side by side, with prices from each house's own site, and shows how to combine them.
The quick answer
Casa Milà is bigger and calmer, with the best rooftop in Barcelona and the only exhibition on Gaudí's whole career. Casa Batlló has the richer interiors and the mosaic facade. Both cost from €29 for adults; Casa Batlló's General Visit takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, Casa Milà's about 1 hour 30 minutes. With time for one, go to La Pedrera for the rooftop. On GetYourGuide, La Pedrera's own ticket starts at US$33.
What is the difference between Casa Milà and Casa Batlló?
Casa Batlló is a remodelled house of 1904 to 1906, all colour and curves inside; Casa Milà is a new building of 1906 to 1912, stone outside, with a famous rooftop and attic.
At Casa Batlló, Gaudí reworked an existing building for the Batlló family: mosaic and glass on the facade, a roof often read as a dragon's back, and interiors where hardly a line is straight. At Casa Milà he started from nothing. The structure stands on pillars, with no load-bearing walls inside, and the stone facade hangs on it like a curtain. Barcelona mocked it as "La Pedrera", the stone quarry.
La Pedrera was his last civil work. After it he gave his time to the Sagrada Família.

Which is better inside, Casa Milà or Casa Batlló?
Casa Batlló, if interiors are what you came for. Casa Milà's interior is a furnished period flat and an exhibition, while its rooftop and courtyards are the stars.
Casa Batlló's main floor is the showpiece, with curving wood, coloured glass and a blue-tiled light well that pales as it goes down. La Pedrera's apartment shows how a family lived in 1911, and the attic's 270 brick arches are among the most beautiful spaces Gaudí built. Above it all is the roof.
If you care about how Gaudí worked, La Pedrera explains more. The Espai Gaudí in its attic is the only exhibition on his whole career.

Casa Milà, clearly. Its rooftop is a walkable sculpture park of 29 chimneys with views to the Sagrada Família; Casa Batlló's roof is smaller.
La Pedrera's roof is the reason many people pick it: chimneys like warriors' helmets, mosaic towers, stairs that rise and fall over the attic vaults and an arch that frames the Sagrada Família. Guests keep naming it: "The roof tops had fantastic views. Would definitely recommend this tour" (Julie, Oct 2026).
Casa Batlló's roof has the tiled dragon's back and a four-armed cross. It is a fine end to that visit, but not a reason on its own. Note that its Night Visit does not include the rooftop.

Both start at €29 for an adult day visit. La Pedrera's Sunset entry at €25 is the lowest regular price of the two, and both let under-12s in free.

Yes, easily. They are about 10 minutes apart on Passeig de Gràcia, and together they take about 3 hours with the walk.

La Pedrera, for the rooftop show. Its Night Experience ends with video-mapping on the chimneys and cava; Casa Batlló's Night Visit stays off the roof.
La Pedrera's Night Experience costs €39.50 (from US$44 on GetYourGuide). It is semi-guided, with an introduction on each level, and ends on the roof. Casa Batlló's site lists a Night Visit from €25 with night lighting and a glass of cava or a Kir Royal, until 15 November, rooftop not included.
The Night Experience guide explains sessions and pace.

Which should you pick if you only have time for one?
La Pedrera for the rooftop, the story and a calmer visit; Casa Batlló for interiors and colour. First-timers who love views pick La Pedrera.
- Pick Casa Milà if: you want the best rooftop, the attic exhibition, a guided early or night option, or a lower price at sunset.
- Pick Casa Batlló if: you mainly want to see colour and interiors, and you are happy without a big rooftop.
- See both if: you have a morning; they are a short walk apart.
